Best Moments of 2017 Rwanda

Here we are again at the end of another year and the fun comedown is already sinking in. But before we look forward to doing it all again next year, let’s take a look at the best – and most defining – festival moments from 2017 so far.

H.E Paul Kagame – President Election

Presidential elections were held In Rwanda on 04 August 2017. The incumbent President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, was re-elected to a third seven-year term with 98,79% of the vote.

Kigali Up Festival

KigaliUp is an annual Event in kigali but for this year the festival was attended by many people than the previous ones with international and local artists from gospel singers, Rockstar Band to Soul Music, Modern to culture, the performances were awesome and artist such as Patoranking, Ismael lo, Lion IManzi, Rafiki, and more took the stage.

My 250 Concert – Tekno

Nigerian musician Augustin Miles Kelechi also known as Tekno. Tekno arrived later, with just an hour to the show. Organizers told journalist that his delay was due to the artiste “Not feeling well” and having to take medication before heading to Kigali. The My 250 Concert, which was organized by Brainwave and Positive Production, was marred by organizational issues, starting with the singer’s late arrival. Tekno took the stage at around midnight to an excited crowd. Diehard fans, mainly young women, were uncontrollable as they shrieked and screamed for the star, with some rushing to the stage and had to be restrained by security.

Mutzing Beer Fest – Meddy

After 7 years, He is back Meddy was live at nyamata started off his performance with his hits songs from back in the days including ”Ese Urambona”, “Akaramata”,”Igipimo”,”Amayobera”,”Inkoramutima” and Mubwire among others. And he later performed the songs he released when he was in the US Including “Ndi Uw’i Kigali”, “Nasara”,”Burindebucya”. He capped his performance with “Ntawamusimbura”. Many people gave up and others went home, Drinks were plenty. The show ended at a half past mid-night and everyone was happy.


Inauguration of The first Cricket stadium – Rwanda Cricket Stadium 

The First and only Cricket Stadium in Rwanda .The inauguration marks the end of a remarkable six-year undertaking by British Charity the Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation who have raised the £1 Million required to build the spectacular new home of Rwandan Cricket.

Runtown Experience

It was the first time Runtown was invited in Rwanda and when he took to the stage, fans were very excited and anxious to see the Mad over singer performing for the first time in Kigali and it was clear that he wanted to leave a mark.

Runtown was joined on stage by Sheebah Karungi, the Nkwatako singer, the dual performance was electic and everybody knew that the night will be promissing.

The show was organizerd by I Factory Africa which is an Events and Artist Management company based in Kampala, Uganda, and this was their first event in Rwanda.

The show had more than its fair share of upcoming musical acts from Uganda, on a night when organizers had promised to give upcoming Rwandan artistes a chance to share the stage with Runtown and Sheebah.
