Meet David Berg

David’s love of photography came from his wanting to capture every happy moment in his life, so he could never forget it. “I’ve always loved it (photography) but didn’t really become serious about it all until I graduated high school and life got tough with being new to adulthood and all, it became a creative escape for me. That’s when I really fell in love with it and knew that’s what I wanted to do for a living.” David describes his photography as lifestyle photography. But even when I collar with models the images are always portraying real life things and situations that could be relatable to anyone.” He doesn’t do too much of heavy editing in his pictures. No wrinkle removing, drastic colour changes or immense retouching. “I want those who view my images to feel a natural emotion being captured.”

His love of music and his city inspire his work the most. “When I’m uninspired I like to listen to old school music and watch music videos from the 90s. That era is a huge inspiration for me. Also, taking walks and bus rides to places I’ve never been to before just to explore, a change in scenery alone does a lot for my creativity.” David says Cindy Sherman inspires him a lot. Despite what some may think are negative aspects, he still manages to find the beauty and unity in the city. “For every single person doing wrong, there’s a handful of others creating outlets and trying to make things better within our communities so the younger generation has something positive to look forward to.”

David is currently working a part-time job doing sales photography. “It’s great since it involves my craft.” When he’s not working he’s scrolling through feeds of other young photographers seeking inspo or taking nature walks and trips with his camera in hand. He hopes to eventually branch out into different styles and types of photography to strengthen his portfolio. “In the near future, I plan on doing more concert and music photography, couple maternity, more portraits, and conceptual shoots too. A long term goal of his is owning a studio and creative space of his own within the next 5 years. He also hopes to be fully established within his career by then.

We look forward to seeing what’s next for this amazing photographer!
